HOW DO YOU MAKE CANNABIS COFFEE?
Weed infused coffee is one of my favourite ways to enjoy microdoses of cannabis in the morning. Personally I make cannabis coffee with CBD oil because I find that it helps balance out the “jitters” from caffeine. It’s a great way to start my mornings, especially on weekends when I have more time to sip and enjoy the coffee aromas. Cannabis coffee is one of the easiest cannabis infused beverages you can make at home. You only need a few staple ingredients, and it really shouldn’t be that different from your regular coffee making routine.
To make cannabis coffee, all you need is coffee (you can use whatever format you’re used to, whether it’s an espresso machine pod, french press, instant coffee, or even espresso from a fancy espresso machine), cannabis oil or butter of your choice, and a fat-based milk or plant based milk.
The key to making a cannabis infused coffee is that you use a fat-rich milk or dairy free milk and whisk that together with your cannabis oil in a milk frother, or using an electric whisk. The fat molecules in your milk will bind well with the cannabinoids in the your CBD oil. And by whisking the two ingredients together, you’re creating a more blended and emulsified infused coffee. I highly recommend getting yourself a milk frother over an electric whisk because it’s easier to clean, easier to use, and it won’t spray the milk all over the place.
By whisking your milk together with the cannabis oil, you are helping the cannabinoids bind together with the fat from the milk, thus increasing absorption of the oil in your coffee. It’s much better than just adding the cannabis oil to your milk after the fact. The worst thing is when the cannabis oil doesn’t mix well with the milk and you have sips where it tastes like cannabis!

Coffee: I personally have a Nespresso machine so I use Starbucks coffee pods to make single or double shot espressos. You can also just use regular dip coffee or even instant coffee powder.
Milk: This recipe will work with any type of dairy free milk or even regular cow’s milk. I’ve tried it with coconut milk, oat milk, cashew milk and the list goes on! As long as the milk / mylk you’re choosing to use has a percentage of fat content, the cannabinoids will bind to the infusion. Typically the fattier the better, but if you’re fine with losing out a little bit on absorption, any fat will do you just fine. My motto is to always do what works best for you. Just because there’s a “best way” to do something, doesn’t mean you have to follow it.

Cashew milk
Oat milk
Rice milk

TIPS & TRICKS FOR SUCCESS
Investing in an electric milk frother like this one from Bodum has been one of my best kitchen decisions ever! I use my Bodum everyday, even for non-cannabis infused drinks. It’s relatively inexpensive and lasts a long time, and is easy to clean. I much prefer electric frothers than electric whisks because almost all the electric whisks I’ve tried always end up splattering my liquids all over the place.
