Chillin' through Dry January with my go-to: the Cannabis-Infused Whiskey Sour Mocktail – the ultimate sip for those doing the no-booze dance. 

I've swapped out the real whiskey for a booze-free alternative, and tossed in some of my dissolvable cannabis powder for that extra oomph. Think classic whiskey sour, but minus the alcohol. Still rocking those citrusy and sweet vibes, just in a more laid-back style. 

So, if you're hankering for the cocktail feel without the hard stuff this month, this mocktail's got your back. It's the perfect way to spice up Dry January – a refreshing, alcohol-free twist on the usual. 


What is a Whiskey Sour?

Picture this: the Whiskey Sour, a classic tipple that's been making waves since forever. This iconic drink is all about a mix of whiskey, fresh lemon juice, and a dash of simple syrup – a trio that's got taste buds doing a happy dance. 

Now, let's dive into history – this bad boy dates back to the 19th century, making it a true OG. Some say it was born in the US, while others claim it's a concoction that travelled from England to the Americas. No matter its origin, the Whiskey Sour has stood the test of time. 

Fast forward to the present day, and you'll find this cocktail still owning the scene. Its sweet and sour symphony, mixed with the punch of whiskey, has a timeless allure. Bartenders love crafting variations, and drinkers adore the versatile kick it brings. The Whiskey Sour isn't just a drink; it's a piece of liquid history that's here to stay in the modern age – a timeless favourite with a legacy that keeps on pouring.

Ingredients & Substitutions

  • Simple Syrup: Feel free to use any sweetener of your choice. Maple syrup or honey are excellent natural sweetener options as well, but they may alter the taste of the mocktail.

  • Egg white: It is not necessary to add an egg white to a whiskey sour but it does give it a nice texture and foam. Feel free to exclude from the recipe if you have concerns about consuming raw egg whites.


Alternative Cannabis Infusion Methods

If you can’t make my dissolvable cannabis powder recipe, you can use a cannabis tincture – however this would defeat the purpose of the mocktail being alcohol free because cannabis tinctures are alcohol based. I do not have a recipe for cannabis tincture because I personally do not use them myself or in any of my recipes. 


Tips & Tricks

The key to making a beautiful light whiskey sour foam is to do a dry shake before shaking with ice. Dry shake refers to shaking your ingredients together without ice. For this recipe, you can shake the egg whites with the other ingredients prior to adding ice. After shaking and creating a lovely light foam, add the ice to the cocktail shaker and shake again for 30 seconds.
